Seun Kuti, an afrobeat singer who was seen on camera assaulting a policeman, has given an explanation for his behavior.
The police allegedly attempted to kill both him and his family, according to the famed Fela’s son.
Usman Baba, the Inspector General of Police, has in the meanwhile instructed the Lagos State Command Commissioner of Police to detain Seun.
Baba further commanded a prompt and thorough investigation into the immediate and underlying cause(s) of the assault as well as the prosecution of the culprit in accordance with the findings.
IGP Baba assures Nigerians that disrespectful behavior toward official symbols won’t be condoned and that those responsible for such heinous crimes will be brought to justice.
Seun Kuti was caught on camera in a viral video assaulting a police officer on Lagos’ Third Mainland Bridge.
Kuti said that the policeman attempted to kill him and his family, which is why he attacked the cop, via his Instagram page.
He said, “He tried to kill my family and I.
“I have the proof but I no dey chase clout. He has apologised and I have agreed not to press charges.
“Make una mind una business make the poor guy no lose him job (You all should mind your business so the officer will not lose his job).”
