According to Osifo, the walkout will continue until “all levels of government wake up to their responsibility.”

Aside from protesting ongoing labour concerns in Imo State, the strike is also a response to the assaulting of NLC President Joe Ajaero and a few other congress officers on November 1 in Owerri, Imo State.

The NLC’s Head of Information, Benson Upah, revealed that Ajaero had been taken into custody by the police before to a state-wide demonstration in Imo.

Although the police denied arresting Ajaero, stating that he was merely taken into protective custody to prevent a mob attack, the Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, accused the labour leader of meddling in the political affairs of the state.
