Former Lagos CP Clears Air On Appointment As EFCC Chairman

Hakeem Odumosu, a retired assistant inspector general of police (AIG) and former Lagos state commissioner of police, has refuted rumors that he was named the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s (EFCC) substantive chairman.
According to reports that surfaced on Tuesday, Odumosu’s appointment is subject to confirmation by the Senate.

Recall that President Bola Tinubu suspended the former chairman of the anti-corruption agency for misconduct while in office.
The Department of State Services (DSS) later invited Bawa for questioning.
But in a statement released on Wednesday and bearing his signature, Odumosu denied knowing about the appointment.
He referred to the appointment’s distribution as false and advised Nigerians to ignore the rumor.
According to him, “Good Morning, everyone, I have been inundated with so many calls and messages between yesterday and today on a purported “EFCC Appointment”. I just want to use this opportunity to debunk this information and say it’s totally untrue.
“This information must have emanated from mischief makers and should be totally disregarded,” he said.
