The Department of State Services, DSS, filed a two-count complaint of unauthorised possession of a firearm against him.

Recall that Emefiele had spent more than a month in the care of the DSS.

Following Emefiele’s plea of not guilty to the two-count allegation, his attorney, Mr. Joseph Daudu, SAN, requested that his client be released on bond.

Daudu argued that bail might be obtained for the offence for which Emefiele was changed.

Emefiele arrived at court at 9:23 a.m. in a white Hillux pickup van with its licence plates hidden.

Emefiele was accompanied by a woman, whose identity could not be established at press time, as she exited the van after arriving at the court.

He received assistance getting to the trial judge’s chambers, Justice Nicolas Oweibo.
