JUSTIN: Tinubu Removes Bawa As EFCC Chairman, Orders Probe

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission Chairman, AbdulRasheed Bawa, has been placed on indefinite administrative leave by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
He claimed that this is necessary to enable a comprehensive examination into his behavior while in office in light of “weighty allegations” of abuse of office leveled against him.

This was said in a statement released on Wednesday by Willie Bassey, Director of Information for the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
However, Bawa was told to turn over right away to the Director of Operations of the Commission while the investigation was ongoing.
“President Tinubu has approved the indefinite suspension from office of AbdulRasheed Bawa, CON, as the Chairman, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to allow for proper investigation into his conduct while in office. This follows weighty allegations of abuse of office levelled against him.
“Mr Bawa has been directed to immediately handover the affairs of his office to the Director, Operations in the Commission, who will oversee the affairs of the Office of the Chairman of the Commission pending the conclusion of the investigation,” the statement read.
