JUSTIN: Tinubu Suspends CBN Gov, Godwin Emefiele From Office

Godwin Emefiele, the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, has been immediately removed from his position by order of the president, Bola Tinubu.
The suspension is effective immediately.
This was revealed in a statement released on Friday night by Willie Bassey, the director of information for the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.

He explained that the suspension of the CBN governor is based on the investigation as well as the planned reforms in the financial sector.
According to Bassey, Emefiele has been instructed to immediately transfer control of his office’s affairs to the Deputy Governor (Operations Directorate) until the inquiry and reforms are finished.
The statement read, “President Bola Tinubu has suspended the Central Bank Governor, Godwin Emefiele, from office with immediate effect.
“This is sequel to the ongoing investigation of his office and the planned reforms in the financial sector of the economy.
“Emefiele has been directed to immediately hand over the affairs of his office to the Deputy Governor (Operations Directorate), who will act as the Central Bank Governor pending the conclusion of the investigation and the reforms.”
