The autopsy report of late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, also known as Mohbad, which was completed two months ago, has not been provided to the Lagos State Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed.

As of today, Tuesday, November 21, 2023, makes it two months since the late singer Mohbad’s body was excavated and an autopsy was conducted to determine the reason of his death.

Mohbad’s death on September 12 sparked controversies in Nigeria and beyond which prompted the police to set up an investigative team to determine what led to the singer’s demise.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, had tweeted in September that an “autopsy has been concluded” and the police were “awaiting result.”

The musician Mohbad vomited and got goosebumps after receiving three injections from a nurse named Feyisayo Ogedemgbe on September 12, 2023, according to information revealed by the then-Commissioner of Police, Idowu Owohunwa, in October.

After that, a few of the suspects were subsequently charges to court.

However, last Friday, the state Police Command freed singers Azeez Fashola, better known as Naira Marley, and Balogun Samson, better known as Sam Larry, after they fulfilled their bail requirements. Following the release of footage online showing the late singer being assaulted, they were taken into custody as part of an inquiry into Mohbad’s death.

In response to a question on Monday regarding the publication of Mohbad’s autopsy report from Punch correspondent, Hundeyin said that the report had not yet been officially received by the command.

Hundeyin said, “The autopsy report has not been given to us. Some people have been carrying rumours that it’s ready. It’s one thing for it to be ready, it’s another thing for it to be given to us officially – that we would receive and sign a copy that we have received it. So, we don’t work with rumours, we work with facts.”

Meanwhile, Bella Shmurda, a Nigerian musician and a close friend to the deceased had pleaded with the police on Saturday to allow Mohbad’s body to be released.

Bella voiced his worries about the protracted hold-up in the delivery of Mohbad’s body—which had been kept for an autopsy for the previous two months—on his X account late on Saturday.

He appealed to the police to expedite the process and release the body to facilitate a dignified funeral arrangement. Additionally, Bella requested the prompt disclosure of the autopsy results.

“It’s been over two months since Mohbad died and his body was taken in for autopsy but yet no result, which is fine but please release his body. That boy needs a befitting burial and to go to rest finally. Naija Police, what’s going on? We need an answer here: where is the result? Where is his body?” he wrote.

However, Hundeyin went on to say that the autopsy results would be independently provided to the police once they were complete, and that only the singer’s family lawyer could write to the pathologists to release them.
