Train/Bus Accident: Sanwo-Olu Suspends Campaigns, Declares 3 Days Mourning

Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the governor of Lagos State, has ruled that all political campaigns will be halted and that all flags will be flown at half-staff in honor of those who have lost their lives in the state’s recent train/bus accident.
On Thursday morning, a passenger train collided with a staff bus of the Lagos State Government as it was traveling from Ikotun to Alausa, the state secretariat, in the PWD neighborhood of Ikeja. Several people were hurt.

The announcement by the governor was posted on Twitter by Sanwoolu’s chief press secretary, Gboyega Akosile.
He said, “Breaking: Gov @jidesanwoolu suspends campaigns, enjoins others to show the true spirit of Lagos. He thanks all medical personnel and other officials who responded promptly to the incident.
“Gov directs flags be flown at half mast and workers to observe a half day of work tomorrow.”
85 passengers were on board when the incident occurred, and there were six fatalities, 42 moderate injuries, 29 serious injuries, and eight light injuries recorded.
